Both renowned as leaders in their fields, and at the vanguard of the BID model within Europe, the partnership between Newcastle NE1 Ltd and Hamburg’s BID Nikolai Quartier provides a platform for information exchange, professional development and the opportunity to create business links between the two cities.
The partners are working together and learning from each other in order to deliver even more economic returns for the businesses they represent.
Established in 2016, there is sizeable opportunity for growth to establish a league of like-minded bodies working in conjunction across European cities which will deliver significant and measurable economic impact.
● NE1’s Alive after Five has created an evening economy in Newcastle worth an estimated £708m over six years
● NE1’s transformation of Newcastle Central Station will add £100m to the regional economy once the Stephenson Quarter is complete
● NE1’s Bigg Market development is expected to stimulate private sector investment of £30m in the surrounding area
The Bid Model
Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have a proven track record of delivering significant economic impact across Europe. The BID model is highly flexible and enables businesses to focus on the issues that deliver the maximum return on investment for their members.
NE1 is considered the pre-eminent Occupier BID (funded by businesses who occupy premises in the BID area) in Europe, whilst BID Nikolai Quartier are considered to be at the forefront of Property Owner BIDs (funded by the owners of premises within the BID area).
